Assalamu'alaikum Wr. Wb.
Hi! Guten Nacht, Guten Morgan, Morgan! My name is Cut Mutia Fahira, but everyone calls me Icut or Cut (read: Cute). I am seventeen and I am proud of that fact. I live in Jln. Chandra Kirana Gg. Amal Bakti No. 13 Binjai, North Sumatera, Indonesia, with my parents and my sister. I have two sisters, the eldest named Devi, has got married with amazing man named Fauzi and has 2 children named Raihan and Nada, and my last sister named Tika, she doesn’t marry yet, but probably soon. Hopefully. I love them sooo much. I can’t count how much I love them. They teach me many things about life that I have never known before. Well, stop, I won’t go over.
I am kind of weird-cheerful-girl who is a bit closed, but love to smile. I smile much more than speak. Sometimes I speak a lot, sometimes I don’t, sometimes I act like it isn’t me, sometimes I don’t. Whenever I am bored, I usually draw or write something useless, or just sing. Oh yeah, singing is my most favorite hobby. If you ask me whether I have a good voice, I will say, “I have no idea”. Sometimes, I wanna have such an amazing voice like Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, and so on. But it is me. Just beautiful the way I am.
In this 2014 to 2015, I will be here in the United States to be an exchange student for a year. Thanks to Allah SWT and my family, especially to Bina Antarbudaya Medan which give me this memorable chance. I am being exchange student through Bina Antarbudaya, partner of AFS Intercultural Program and Youth and Exchange Study (YES) Program. This exchange year will be so much challenging, but that’s why I am here to break the challenges, to get myself ready for everything in the future. So, this online cute journal will be the place I share my amazing experiences during my exchange year. I’m gonna share what I am doing here and things that you might never knew before about the USA. Thus, I hope this journal is inspiring for those who want to go abroad for being exchange students and also who are still struggling for their once-in-a-lifetime year! I challenge you guys to have this exchange experience!!! For them who do not get this chance, don’t worry! You still have a chance to go abroad in college or work. If there is a will, there is a way. Many ways to get something. Don’t give up! God never makes such bad destiny, you make your own destiny. What you do that is what you get back. Fighting!
This song is one of my favorite song, we sang it when we were having pre-departure orientation in Indonesia. It is dedicated to you, the EXCHANGE STUDENT!
We are AFS-sers
We are AFS-ser, mighty AFS-ser,
Everywhere we go, people want to know who we are,
So we tell them, if they can’t here us sing a little louder!
